Regularly practicing facial yoga or exercises for your facial muscles, may actually make you look younger, research suggests.
Doing facial exercises, or Facial Yoga, is a completely natural way to make your face look younger by toning the muscles. Even if you workout regularly, you probably neglect these muscles. Just clenching your face muscles improves blood circulation which results in a clear, healthy complexion with a beautiful glow.
Here are six easy to do exercises you can try in the comfort of your home for younger and firmer looking skin.
The Fish Lips
This exercise is good for the cheeks and jaws too. It also gives your lips a great shape. To begin with, softly close your lips. Draw your cheeks inwards as much as possible, which gives a ‘fish face’ look and hence the name of the exercise. Try smiling while holding this posture.Hold for about 15 seconds. Relax and repeat the exercise for five times.
Puppet face
This exercise works on your entire face. It will strengthen your cheek muscles, so that they do not become loose. Most people go for botox to get this kind of look.
To begin with, place the tip of your fingers where your cheeks crinkle on your face when you smile. Push your cheeks up at this point and hold the smile. Stay in this posture for thirty seconds and then return back to your original pose.
Be surprised and shocked!
This exercise is super effective in exercising the forehead and eye muscles. It tones your temples and eliminates the effects of squinting for hours at the computer screen or scowling.
Widen your eyes, exposing the white of the eyes as much as possible. Keep doing that until your eyes cannot hold it anymore or start watering.
Look Up at The Ceiling
Look up and pucker your mouth like you’re about to kiss something. Hold for 5 seconds, and repeat 5 times. For a more prominent jawline and high cheekbones, you can also stick out your tongue while looking up at the ceiling in order to stretch and strengthen the muscles in your neck. Note: Return to a neutral position to continue the exercise every time.
Crow’s Feet
This exercise works wonders to decrease unwanted lines around your eyes, also known as crow’s feet. Open your eyes wide, as if startled or scared. Pull your skin back while doing this exercise with the help of your hands.
The Lion Face
This boosts the collagen production and gives a natural glow to your face. Start off your mornings with this stretch.
Take a deep breath. Exhale and open your mouth wide with your tongue extended outwards. Stretch your tongue as far out as possible. Hold this expression for at least ten seconds. Repeat three times.
