Hatha yoga is known as the yoga for the physical body. In Sanskrit, “Ha” represents sun and “tha” represents moon.

Hatha yoga is about finding balance. Through working with the physical body, releasing tensions and traumas stored in the body, you create space in yourself and, through that space and balance, the opportunity for spiritual growth.

 

Vinyasa Yoga

Vinyasa means “movement linked with breath.” Postures are strung together in a short or longer flow

This style of yoga is often quite dynamic, which requires the mind to stay focused in the present to be able to keep up. Focusing keeps you from drifting off and helps you to be present in your body rather than stuck in your head.

 

Iyengar Yoga

Iyengar Yoga was named after and developed by B.K.S. Iyengar who was a direct disciple of T. Krishnamacharya. They, together with Patabbhi Jois and a few others, were responsible of bringing the practice of modern yoga to the West.

Iyengar Yoga focuses on three aspects: alignment, sequencing and timing.

 

 

Ashtanga Yoga

In Sanskrit “Ashta + anga” is Ashtanga. “Ashta” means Eight and “Anga” is limbs so it means Eight Limb path. Ashtanga is a system of yoga that was brought to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. .

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic, flowing style that connects the movement of the body with the breath. The method stresses the importance of daily practice of a set series of movements. There are six series of Ashtanga yoga sequences, which the student progresses through at their own pace.

 

Kundalini Yoga

An uplifting blend of spiritual and physical practices, Kundalini Yoga incorporates movement, dynamic breathing techniques, meditation, and the chanting of mantras, such as Sat Nam, meaning “truth is my identity.” The goal is to build physical vitality and increase consciousness.
